A veneer is a thin piece of durable, tooth-shaped porcelain that’s been custom made for you by a dental laboratory. Porcelain veneers are securely affixed to the front of your teeth, so that the underlying tooth structure is untouched. Using a porcelain veneer results in a tooth that’s indistinguishable from your other teeth because it has been restored to its natural shape and function.
Placing porcelain veneers usually takes two dental office visits. During the first visit, Dr. Hwang will prepare your teeth and take a precision mold to allow your new veneers to fit precisely.
The impression is sent to a dental laboratory where the porcelain veneers are custom fitted and designed to your shape, size and color specifications. At your second visit, the veneers are cleaned and bonded to the front of your teeth just above and at the gum line. Adjustments are made, and the cement is cured to your teeth using a special light. Once the process is complete, you can resume normal activities and enjoy your newly restored smile.
